Geelong V Richmond Rd4 2004 Saturday 17/04/2004 TD (N)
Well, the batteries I put in the Crystal Ball must have worked, because it got it right last week, however I didn't really want to see the Tigers get a 45 point thumping and lose Richo to injury and Staff to suspension.
What a week it has been. Steven Baker (the dirty little thug) goes and clocks Kane Johnson and pleads amnesia, would have made it concussion if it wouldn't have cost the club $50,000. Of course neither are true, he's just a dirty player and that's how they play the game. Anyway he's got a month to reflect on his sins now. It was pretty much balanced by Staff getting 3 weeks for kneeing Blake. I don't think he meant to break the man's vertebrae, but he just has to be more careful with his knees. The accusations (completely baseless) levelled at Richmond by that spineless, petulant, mealy mouthed excuse for a coach Grant 'Cornflakes' Thomas fired Danny Frawley up and at long last made him passionate. Of course while he was calling Thomas a liar it took the focus off the Richmond performances which have been ordinary.
The CB has a picture of a cat forming in the swirling mists, but as this game is The Cats (common or garden variety moggy) taking on The Tigers that really isn't a lot of help.
Geelong, for a team that was light on for talent and experience, they have been hard hit by injury and whilst that has contributed to their winless start to the season, their ineptness on every line, but the backline led by All Australian Matthew Scarlett hasn't helped either. Richmond if you discount the first round haven't exactly had a season to go down as a success in the annals either. Losing Richardson and Stafford won't help. The smart thing to would be to bring in Schulz for Richo, whack Andy Kellaway at CHB (it's not like the Cats have a CHF anyway) and make Ray Hall the 2nd ruck. Of course the Frawley coached Richmond is not known for doing the smart thing.
Aaaahhhhh the CB has some yellow and black in that cat picture, yes, it's a Tiger.
So this week the Tigers to be infected by the coaches passion and come out roaring which should scare their smaller cousins back down the highway to Geelong with their tails between their legs.
