Collingwood V Richmond Rd 18 2004 Saturday 31/07/2004 MCG
The first time Richmond played the Pies this year it was a surprise win to the Tigers. I jokingly said at the time we had to savour it, because the side didn't get many victories. How little did I realise how prophetic those words would prove to be.
Collingwood have had a shocking season, they've won five games for the year and this is coming off playing off for the Premiership. I don't know that the slide comes as a great surprise, but I doubt they expected to slip this far, this fast. Despite all that they are still travelling a good deal better than the Tigers.
Jackson has gone back to play school footy and I don't mind that, I shudder to think who they'll replace him with, given the recent brilliant moves of replacing the injured Schultz (a tall forward) with David Rodan (the shortest player on the Richmond list) and dropping the promising Shane Tuck and putting in the tried and failed Adam Houlihan. Hopefully some sense will prevail and they'll play a youngster.
Richmond may try, but they won't win, at least they will have the solace of knowing that the Pies will do themselves out of a priority pick by winning the game.
