Cry Me A River Seahawks

Week 6: Seattle 10 - Tampa Bay 20

Ugliness abounds!

Approaching this game from a realistic standpoint, all I wanted was to get out without a humiliation. We achieved that, and the score even looks respectable. Which is more than I can say for the game.

Of news to me was the seriousness of Matt Hasselbeck's injury. I wonder if we shouldn't send him off to the surgeons and chalk this season up to a disaster. Let Matt start healing and having him back in good shape at the start of next season.

Plenty of rumors and blame about what's happened to our season, with reporters trying to make a story out of nothing. I don't believe that our problems on the field are related to our coaching situation this season. Mora has stayed out of the headlines, as he should, while Holmgren coaches. If the lame duck coach situation is a controversy, it's because the media is trying their best to make it one. Give it up, media. We stink because we've had an uncanny number of injuries. I wouldn't be surprised to see reporters on the sidelines on crutches and slings.

Quotes by Mike Holmgren

"Right now our confidence on offense isn't where it should be and now we have to keep them going somehow, some way, and regain that confidence that we used to have."

"There was a little frustration on the sideline yesterday. Understandably so, but again I have to talk to the team about how we handle ourselves in that situation. Again, we’re not the first team to go through a time like this. How we handle it is important.”

“It’s hard right now, and everybody is disappointed. There’s only one thing you can do though. You’re not going to quit. And you’re not going to just cash it in and start thinking about next year. That’s not going to happen. So the only other alternative you have is to keep plugging away. My job is to keep them positive.”
