Interview with Dave Krieg

You met up with a lot of players over your career. We know it’s unfair to ask about “favorite” or “best” players when it’s so hard to compare, but you know that fans keep asking. We’re no exception!

If you picked your All-Dave Team for guys you enjoyed being with and who made the game more fun for you, who’d make the squad?

"One of them would be Kenny Easley, one of the best football players I ever played with. Defensive Player of the Year in 1984. Heck of a talent, if not for injuries he’d have been in Hall of Fame. Steve Largent, of course. Joe Nash, Curt Warner, John L. Williams, all the offensive linesmen that blocked for me, I could go up and down the list there, whole bunch of guys that really gave their all. I couldn’t believe they’d actually go to the line to block for me. Those were some of the more talented guys that I mentioned. Dave Brown, consummate pro."

Finally, is there a perfect football day for you out of all those memories? If you could go back in time, where would you like to be?

"One play? The Kansas City game when Paul Skansi caught that pass with no time remaining on the clock. He’s one of my favorites too, he didn't get much credit but he was very similar to Steve Largent."

"Game? There were some in succession. We beat the Patriots and then the Broncos in first playoff game. I think I was 12/13 and it was the first playoff game the Seahawks ever played and we won. Then we went to Miami and that was the most memorable game because we went in as 14 ½ point underdogs. We went down there and beat them. Those were some of the most memorable games."

"Then there was a touchdown pass to Darryl Turner. It was the first play of game in Denver at Mile High Stadium and we went with the silent count. Chuck said, 'Let's quiet this crowd down and hit a big pass.' We threw the bomb. You don’t normally hit that pass, but we did to Darryl Turner, 80 yard touchdown pass, first play of the game."
