"He's an outstanding player. He loves to play the game, and it shows. But he's a rookie. Let's not anoint him yet." -- Coach Holmgren on Hamlin

"We’re trying to find our identity and one of the things is being aggressive. It’s going to be that way week in and week out." -- Ken Hamlin

"We have a fast defense and it's starting to show, because we're picking up the tipped passes and I hope we can do that all season long." -- Coach Holmgren

"We are starting to get a little more of a rhythm, but that defense again gave us a lot of opportunities" -- Coach Holmgren

"I feel, and I think that our offense feels, that we are only scratching the surface of how good we can be." -- QB Matt Hasselbeck

"It's been a long time since it's been this fun." -- Linebacker Chad Brown

"(Hamlin) is a Pro Bowl-type player. That's what he is playing like. I'm having a good time watching him." -- Cornerback Willie Williams

"He's a wonderful young man and a great football player - let me say those things first. But he does young, dumb things sometimes and I equate it with tough love. There is no one who wanted to see him play more than me in that game today. No one. But I don't have two sets of rules." -- Coach Mike Holmgren on Koren Robinson sitting out for disciplinary reasons

"He's great. He's a nice guy, hard working, humble, quiet, respectful. He plays with emotion, but in the locker room he's quiet and respectful." -- Linebacker Chad Brown, talking about Ken Hamlin

    Week 2:
    Seattle 38 - Arizona 0

Ooohh, guess what?!?! We have a special treat!! Click here for a first hand account of the game from a fan who was there!

This game had Oh you beauty! written all over it from the get go! Anytime we recover a fumble on the first defensive series of the game and turn it into a touchdown I'm happy!

I'm going to say it again: Reggie Tongue is impressive! We had a lot of players who were downright awesome this week but I'm seeing great things from Reggie Tongue! Early in the game there was a pass that went through Hamlin's hands into Reggie's hands. Reggie had great concentration to hang on to the ball and try to get some yardage. In both games this season we've seen players fighting and clawing for extra yardage after the initial hit or tumble. I like that!!!

Alex Bannister is another player who stands out in my mind. He was incredible on special teams today. I think he stole a few of those comic word bubbles from Hamlin! (Refer to last week's report for explanation!)

I knew Norman Hand was big but I didn't realize how big until they showed him limping off the field. All I can say is that I'd be a little worried if I was the guy who had to line up opposite him on the field! He's...well, he's a force!

Most of you probably know that Darrell Jackson is one of my favorite players! Did he strut his stuff today?!? hee hee! A 55 yarder for a touchdown and a 66 yarder for another touchdown! Good connection, Hasselbeck! You two have what it takes!

Which leads us to Koren Robinson. How disappointing that he was unable to play due to disciplinary reasons. Engram and Jackson were shining. Would have been fun to have Robinson in the spotlight right alongside them. I worry that missed games will affect the timing of the plays, so please Mr. Robinson, toe the line! We want to see you on the field!

The Shaun Alexander touchdown was so cool! Bouncing off the defenders, accepting the block from Hasselbeck and plowing through into the end zone for a touchdown!!! Football was FUN today!!

A quick word for the Cardinals and their fans if I may, please. Been there, done that, feel for them. It wouldn't be pleasant to pay the money to sit outside in the 100+ degree heat to watch the performance they saw from their Cardinals today. I'm proud of those who made the effort to come. I hope the players felt a bit of their spirit even if most of the stadium was empty.

    MOSES PREDICTS GAME TWO!!!!!!
Posted by MOSES on 9/12/2003, 5:11 pm

HAIL TO THEE, O SEAHAWK FANS!!!!! IT IS I, MOSES, HERE TO PREDICT THE SEAHAWK/ cardi-nos GAME!!!!!!

LAST WEEK: (singing….) “Why can’t this game….. go on forever?” WE ARE 1-0!!!!!!

This week, fresh off of the SMACKDOWN they handed the Saints, our beloved Seahawks head to ……………THE OLD WEST….

    …by heading …uh, slightly EASTWARD to Arizona…

( ring…..ring…..Rand McNally ??? Rand McNally ??? Please pick up the white courtesy phone….)

Yes, it is time for a good old-fashioned SHOWDOWN at the AZ CORRAL!!!

Speaking of westerns, it seems that the Arizona Cardinals come into this game playing like a few westerns we have all seen:

-The defense looked like they were “The Searchers” (searching for a ball carrier).
-They also looked overall like “The Bad, The WORSE, and The UGLY” giving up so many points to the… Lions?
-Finally, that Cardinal defense was left in Detroit often grabbing…. “ A FISTFUL OF AIR”

( ring…..ring…..Clint Eastwood ??? Clint Eastwood ??? Please pick up the white courtesy phone….)

    BUT……..

Enough silly movie references, back to this game.

One thing the Cardinals DID find last week was a receiver. Anquan Boldin (this week’s fantasy football DARLING) had quite an NFL debut with 10 catches and 217 yards.

And that is good news for Cardinal head coach…….. …..uh….. Cardinal head coach….. Who is their head coach, anyway?…..Joe Bugel?…..Barry Switzer?… WHITEY HERZOG?

Face it. We all know more about the ST. LOUIS CARDINALS than the ARIZONA Cardinals. Playing or coaching there is the next best thing to witness protection …

( ring…..ring….. Henry Hill ??? Henry Hill ??? Please pick up the white courtesy phone….)

This Sunday the predicted high in Arizona is going to be ..98???? 98??? Doesn’t SOUND like football weather to me…

Plus, the fact that less than 1/3 of the seats have been sold for this game on Sunday, I had to wonder to myself: “ What WILL all of those Arizona football fans be doing Sunday?”

So, here from our office in PHOENIX, ARIZONA comes……….. (drum roll)….

“THE TOP THREE THINGS THAT PEOPLE IN ARIZONA WILL BE DOING SUNDAY AFTERNOON DURING THE GAME”

    3. Watching their beloved Cowboys on TV in the air conditioning.
    2. Unsticking their pets from the sidewalks.
    1. Watching coyotes spontaneously combust while running across the desert.

THREE PLAYERS TO WATCH FOR the cardi-nos

    1. EMMITT SMITH: Chose to play in Arizona to be closer to all the Cowboy fans.
    2. JEFF BLAKE: Has quite an arm. Will it still be attached during the whole season?
    3. ANQUAN BOLDIN: One game does not a career make. ESPECIALLY AGAINST DETROIT!

THREE PLAYERS TO WATCH FOR THE SEAHAWKS:

    1. SHAUN ALEXANDER: Expect another BIG GAME for #37.
    2. MATT HASSELBECK: May not need to throw a pass after halftime.
    3. KEN “Uh-oh…. HERE COMES THE HAMMER” HAMLIN: who will he decapitate THIS WEEK?

    SO, CAN THEY DO IT?????

    MOSES PREDICTS:

    SEAHAWKS 37
    Ari-zone out cardi-nos 20

SO LET IT BE WRITTEN, SO LET IT BE DONE!!!!!

    MOSES

HEY MOSES!!!!!! WHAT'S FOR DINNER FOR GAME TWO????? Posted by MOSES on 9/12/2003, 5:12 pm

This Sunday during the SEAHAWK/ cardi-no game, I encourage all Seahawk fans to eat the following:

    - Chicken (or should I say CARDINAL) wings served the following ways:
o Loaded with (Calvin) PACE Picante sauce
o Or just use some shake ‘n’ BLAKE
    - (Steve) BUSH baked beans
    - (Levar) fried FISHER
    - Oysters on the half (L.J.) SHELTON
    - Some red-BARRON (Tanner) PIZZA
    - Some honey (Bill) GRAMATICA’s
    - (Duane) STARK chocolate bars
    - Some Bananas (Larry) FOSTER
    - And wash it down with some good old fashioned CACTUS JUICE!!!!

Or, you can just go to TACO (Marcus) BELL!
