"We only had three offensive snaps in the third quarter. It was hard to get back momentum."
--Seattle Seahawks Coach Mike Holmgren
Seattle Seahawks 17 - Miami Dolphins 20
We're still the AFC West Division Champions!! No one can take that away from us!!!
I share your disappointment in the loss. We could have won this game. The simple fact is, Miami wanted it more
than we did. They came to win and they didn't give up until the victory was theirs.
Let's remember though that we've come a lot further than expected in our first season under the leadership of
Mike Holmgren. Everyone thought we were a playoff contender, but not many picked us to win the division.
We can be proud of what we've accomplished and look forward to the coming season with great anticipation!
Before I start asking questions, I want to compliment Charlie Rogers on his outstanding and very exciting
kick-off return for a touchdown!! All year I've been excited to watch Charlie Rogers run with the ball!
He made some mistakes early in the season but he really came on strong with more playing time, and I think
he's really going to be something in years to come! Good luck, Charlie!
Another player I see with a lot of potential is Chris Canty! I really feel that his presence was missed
after the concussion he suffered earlier in the season, but I think he's going to be an asset to the team
next season!
Now...ready to assess the game?
I may be eaten alive for saying this (I can hear my in-box pinging with irate mail even now!) but I
have to put a lot of the blame for this loss on Holmgren. I don't understand some of the decisions he made,
not only today but earlier in the season as well. I'd love to hear your opinions; maybe someone out there will
have some answers for me.
Let's start with Pritchard. He spoke out rather strongly this week letting us know that he wants to play. He
feels he can make a contribution to the team, and he simply wants a chance. He was given that chance today and
came through with some nice receptions. So what happened? Why wasn't he given the opportunity to catch a pass
in the second half? He played so well early in the game. I don't understand why he wasn't given more opportunities in the
latter part of the game.
Which brings us to Mayes. Did you hear his name called even once today? WHY?
Let's move right along to Watters. He found some holes that netted some gains but overall his running was less than
hoped for. Is he injured or not? And if he is, why is he still playing? We know his leadership is valuable to the team.
We know his heart is in the right place! But how hard is it for a defense to figure out that if we're running the ball,
it's going to be a one man show? IF Ahman Green is that bad, which I don't believe for a moment, then why is he taking
up a valuable roster spot? I don't understand Holmgren's way of thinking on this issue. Either give Ahman Green a real chance
to make it or break it...or cut him. It's got to be hard for Ahman to stand on the sidelines each week, wanting to contribute
but not given that opportunity. Mix them up. Take a chance. GO FOR IT. The current style is too conservative. I don't
like it.
Do we have to talk about Galloway? OK, let's get it over with now. Trade him. There, I said it. Yes, he had great effort
on his first (and only) catch of the day. He showed fire after the reception. That's the Joey we know and love. That wasn't
the same Joey who only made a half-attempt to catch the final pass of the game. The defender wanted that pass much more than Joey
wanted it. I'm disgusted, and finally I'm ready to say good-bye to the Great Joey Galloway. I wish him well wherever he goes,
and I hope he finds the determination to go along with his talent. If he can put the two together, he just may be the best receiver
in the NFL.
Merton Hanks. Inactive. WHY???? I'll never understand why we let that much talent sit on the sidelines.
Habib? I think it's time to let him go. I've been unimpressed with his performance all year and I've heard the grumblings
of other fans.
There's a lot of chatter about releasing Sam Adams. I think that would be a dreadful mistake. I can't imagine the line
without Sam and I hope that somehow we find a way to keep him.
To the fans of Seattle who put #12 back in the Kingdome, THANK YOU! We heard you each week and you did make a difference!
It's nice to have the fans back, and I'm confident that our next season is going to be a screamer!
