Sept. 27, 2007 - Calistoga, California We pulled into Calistoga around 5pm after 8 long hours of driving. This hotel is a mineral springs hotel, so we hit the warm outdoor pool and the hot tub. It was really quite relaxing after the long drive. I enjoyed it a lot. I have really soft skin now - there apparently really is something about these minerals! I got a kick out of Craig who complimented two ladies on their hideous "cowboy" outfits when they asked his opinion! "You've never looked better!" I told him he should be ashamed of himself! He should tell them they look hideous and they should never go out in public again dressed like that!! After our swim and soak, we walked a few blocks to see what this town is all about. It's a cute little town, sort of New Age-ish (palm reading and such), but also very touristy and nice. There are a lot of restaurants and we settled on an Italian pasta restaurant called Boskos (www.boskos.com). I had Vittorio - bay shrimp, mushrooms and garlic in an asiago cream sauce on fettuccine. It was about as perfect as a pasta dish can be. Just the right amount of sauce, perfectly cooked shrimp, a nice balance of flavors - it was really quite extraordinary.
We walked back to the hotel and came back to our room. I'm going to turn in early ... this |
