Sept. 26, 2007 - Oregon Coast From the Caves, we drove further down the coast past the sand dunes. They are gigantic! Mountains of very soft sand. It's very peculiar. Who'd have thunk it? They're actually planting vegetation on the dunes so that they aren't so troublesome, and they said in a few dozen years the dunes will be nothing but vegetation. That makes me sad. I want to form a Save the Dunes organization!!! Eventually we left Highway 101 and headed towards the Interstate to make some serious time. It's slow going driving down the coastal highway. We left the ocean and saw more rivers. We left the sand dunes for evergreen covered mountains. It was very scenic, though in a much different way.
I actually fell asleep for a while on this leg of the journey. 'We arrived in Medford this evening and went out to dinner. We went to the Roadhouse Grill which was OK but not anything near the level of last night's cuisine at Panache! I was in the restroom with a mother and 3 out of control children, and the mother, from inside her stall, commented on how there was someone else in the bathroom with them going potty! Look lady, I don't need a running commentary on my tinkling habits!! GET A LIFE!!! I was expecting her at any moment to tell me I was a good girl for going potty |
