Sept. 24, 2007 - Seattle, WA to the Oregon Coast
Dear Diary,
I awoke early in the morning at the pensione with the light shining through the skylight. I loved it. There's something so special about natural lighting.

The bed was so cozy and comfortable that I lingered there until about 7am. I know that sounds early, but I'd gone to bed somewhat early so I still got quite a good night's sleep in. To my surprise, it wasn't weird at all to shower in a shared bathroom. It was open when we were ready to shower and in we went, no different than a hotel room, really. I loved the pensione. I'd stay there again, most definitely. It's not the Hyatt - the ceiling fan squeaks - loudly - and the clock did have a very loud ticking sound - but the pensione has its charm and you can't beat the price or location.

We got to meet Lindsay today, the proprietor. VERY nice lady. She brought us breakfast in the living room. We got a basket of bread - 4 slices of French bread and 2 English muffins. There was peanut butter and jelly on the table. She also brought us a generous bowl of sliced fresh fruit - bananas, blueberries, strawberries, and kiwi fruit, drizzled with a cream sauce that might have been yogurt. Beverage choices were coffee, orange juice and water.
