Nathan Brown
By Chris Greenway
Nathan Brown is an undoubted football talent in the prime of his career, unfortunately he has been best known for his off field and on field petulance which often result in tantrums that even Richo would be proud to call his own.
It was a known fact amongst the football community that Brown would not be playing for the Western Bulldogs in 2004. Firstly they could not afford him and secondly he was unhappy playing as a permanent forward and given the Bulldogs team makeup they could not afford to play him in his preferred midfield role.
There were a number of suitors for his signature, it was believed that Collingwood had the front running, but the big question was how they would fit him under an extremely tight salary cap. Richmond emerged as Nathan's choice of club and they had the room to manuever him into the side.
His performances for the National Team in the International Rules series against Ireland were encouraging and his first Wizard Cup match put a big smile on many Tiger supporters faces.
His first home and away match against Collingwood put to bed any doubts that Browny was going to be a star for Richmond. 29 touches, best on ground and two goals, not to mention how many he set up. He runs hard, he kicks long and accurate, he can hit targets, take bumps and lay on tackles. If there is a better recruit for any side this year then I'm yet to see him.
