It seems that a recurring theme among Seahawk fans, at least those who grew up away from the Northwest, is that they became fans during the early 1980's because they were enthralled by the shiny silver helmets as well as the team's on field performance. My earliest memory of the Seahawks was watching the 1983 draft when they selected Curt Warner and becoming an instant fan. Of course, it was because of the helmets but my love of the Seahawks grew over that amazing season. I have never been to Seattle or seen a Seahawks game in person, but I am still proud to be a fan. I recently lived in Jacksonville for several years and experienced a team that has only a very superficial following from their fans (of course, they have very little to complain about). I wonder what it must be like to live in Seattle and to have suffered through those dark days in the mid-1990's (actually those dark days since 1988), and still maintain such strong loyalty. This season has been refreshing with all of the primetime and nationally televised games, so that I don't have to go to a sports bar and sit away from everyone else watching the Seahawks game on the smallest TV there. For Grove, who asked if anyone knew where Kenny Easley is, he is living in the Norfolk, Virginia area and is the part-owner and organizer of a new Arena League team, the Norfolk Nighthawks.
