Richmond 12.12.84 - Hawthorn 13.5.83
We won! We won! We won! Do-do-do-do-do-dee do! We won! We won! We won! Do-do-do-do-do-dee do!

Yes, I'm singing to the Mexican Hat Dance tune! Hey, a one point victory against Hawthorn at this point in the season is definitely worth celebrating!

And isn't it funny how UP everyone is at Tigerland after a week of serious struggle?! Fans are a fickle lot with so much emotion about the team, the players, the game; but it's the passion that makes the game worthwhile!!

So Tiger fans, ride the wave and enjoy it!!! Hope for more of the same! This week is ours to enjoy!!

Hey Becky
FINALLY. Thank you God. We got another on the board. That is now officially my favourite game by Richmond, replacing the 2pt win over Western Bulldogs in R17 2001. What a special win after a week of turmoil at Richmond. I am sure glad that I tipped Richmond as always. I can now go back to school and give it back to everyone cause I tell you, I copped it bad this week, especially in maths. It was good to see the senior players step up and build the base for Richmonds win. Campbell played great, Johnson, Ottens and Brown played well. But my raps this week goes to Chris Hyde. He played the game of his life last night. Fleming also backed up last weeks standout performance with another this week. Good on the boys. I am afraid though that it is only one win and next week it could be back to the same old again. Credit to Frawley during the week as it was probably one of the worst in his life but in the end it finished great. Here's to Richmond for next week.

Subject: A point!!!!!!!!

Becky!
We won! We won! By a point!!!!!!

I've still got this cold so I didn't go to the game. I watched our blistering start and then switched on the radio to see what the real score was and we were only 10 points up. I watched the next quarter and then checked the radio score again, only 6 points up and it was 7 mins into the last quarter. By the time I'd watched the 3rd quarter it was too late to get the score off the radio so I decided to watch it not knowing the final score. When the Hawks levelled it with 3 mins to go I had to find out what happened so I went to the internet. I saw the score, punched the air, yelled and then watched the final frantic moments on TV. Richie Vandenberg missed the equaliser, he failed to score! Oh, it couldn't happen to a nicer bloke.

We should have won by more, but as Vince Lombardi said: 'Winning isn't everything, but losing isn't anything.' We won't get many so I'll take them any way I can get them.

Your boy Chaff was pretty good, kicked a nice goal, took a few marks, stopped some forward thrusts and he also blotted his copybook with some poor kicking, but overall he contributed.

Isn't it funny how the world looks brighter when you win? I can have a decent weekend now.

Ohhhhhh we're from Tigerland
A fighting fury we're from Tigerland....

Subject: Becky, some insights on the Tiges.

Astute Tiger Friend's comments:
If I get my hands on that supporter that spat at the players, I'd reckon I'd kill him. Now all Richmond supporters are considered feral spitters because of that knob. As for Frawley, he's just talking the words to try and give the impression that all is normal in the world. He knows he is gone, as does the club. I'd be surprised if they haven't already discussed the announcement process of his resignation. Richmond will keep a lid on it until Sheedy makes a decision. If we don't get Sheeds, then we will announce Frawley's resignation for the end of the year and begin chasing Wallace. In addition to the coach though, we need to: Get rid of all support coaching staff as they clearly don't help in any way. Dump Rogers, Hilton, D Kellaway, Fleming, Houlihan, Hyde, Pettifer, Nichols. Trade Fiora, Rodan, Chaffey, Bowden, Blumfield, Hall. Get a concessional pick and keep it. Use all trades to get early draft picks.Aim for 6 picks in the top 30. Get Rex Hunt or Caroline Wilson on the board. We need media support!!!!

Essendon Friend's comments:
Q. Will Frawley see out the season?
A. Nope I'm pretty sure that they will dump Frawley mid year and a replacement will be found (I highly doubt Sheedy will return, Wallance I'm not sure about), the playing group which are the problem in the 1st place will find something miraculously and you will win 5-8 more games for the year missing a concession pick and convince all Richmond personnel that Frawley was to blame. You'll trade to get another Brown and be convinced that next year you could win the flag coz Richo will kick 100 and Ottens will win the Brownlow. Wait two years. Rinse and repeat.

North Melbourne Friend's comments:
I feel as though I have to revert to the Catholic days of my youth and attend confession. "Yes, Father I have sinned. My sins include swearing, taking your name in vain & worst of all tipping Richmond to beat Adelaide. I hope you can see your way clear to forgive me of all my other sins, I understand the last one is testing your benevolence, but I hope you can see your way clear. For all of my sins I'm sorry, though tipping Richmond was more just stupidity. I promise I will not do it again."

My comments:
The Tigers should never have hired Frawley in the first place. Mainly because he has not been a part of AFL success, let along building a list. He was skipper at a weak St Kilda and has never experienced winning >50% of games for an extended peiod of time (say 3 years). He went short-term with the failed Husdon experiment which should have been "writing on the wall". Clearly 90% the players do not have at least one of a) skill, b) confidence, c) work ethic, d) fitness or e) footy brain to play elite, consistent and competitive AFL footy. Unfortunately, >50% of the list are missing three or more of these characteristics. The only beacon is Nathan Brown who would likely excel at any club.

Met vriendelijke groeten/kind regards,
Tom Rankin

Subject: Watch the tiges grow over the next few years

Hi! Found your website on google and thought I'd drop a line. I tell you the Tiges are not washed up they are far from it. You will see over the next few years this team grow and gel. The most important thing is to keep the coach and the coaching staff and get some stability. Danny Frawley is a great guy and has, contrary to what a lot of people think, a lot of respect from the the players. The Tiges need to show some faith and give him all the support he needs to grow this group of youngsters, and that is what they are mostly, to the fighting team that I know they can be. Nathan Brown will give them an extra dimension and show a new level of professionalism that will rub off on the others. Wayne Campbell is allready a great leader and will continue to be so. Richo will, in the later part of his career show some surprising form and I know he is going to go from good to better this year. You watch and see the difference he makes against Sydney on Sunday. Staff and Otters will realy come of age as a ruck team and the midfield will only get better from here on in. We have alot of talent but the side is still very young and still finding it's feet. I have every faith in them and even if they didn't live up to my expectations they still will be the best thing since sliced bread even if we are on the bottom of the ladder. I don't care Tiges are my team and I will always sing the song in my heart whether or not the points are on the board.

Keep the faith and don't be fir weather supporters.
