Brett Deledio
Nathan Foley
| Just for fun through the 2008 footy season, I'm going to chronicle the seasons of these two players through my own personal opinions listening to the game and via media outlets. Your feedback is welcome!
Regular Season
Round 7 - Richmond 16.11.107 - St Kilda 17.8.110
Ahhhh, so close! This was a game I didn't get to see because I was out of state, but I'm getting mixed reports from those who did see it. Some took it as a positive sign that we once again came so close and fell just a tiny bit short. Others said that we squandered opportunities along the way and shouldn't have left the game in the hands of a young player who surely was a bundle of nerves as he tried to kick an impossible long goal to win the game.
Brett Deledio - Deledio was bestowed quite an honor this week, as described by the Richmond Club's site: TIGER Brett Deledio is a contender for this week's AFL Army Award for
his courage against the Saints on Saturday night.
Deledio ignored the sound of any footsteps and, with eyes only for the
ball, wore a heavy collision with St Kilda's Steven Baker in the
contest.
Tigers fans can re-live Deledio's effort and vote for him here:

The AFL Army Award celebrates on-field displays of courage, initiative
and teamwork - characteristics synonymous with both the Australian
Defence Force and the Australian Football League.
The Herald Sun reports: Brett Deledio, who earlier had run with the flight in a display of rare
courage, took a grand mark and sent it forward for Kelvin Moore to take
a screamer with less than a minute to play. His kick had the fans behind
the goals cheering, but it swerved late and hit the post.
There appears to be some injury concern with Deledio, though he did come back onto the field to finish the game.
Nathan Foley - Congrats to Nathan Foley for playing his 150th match. The AFL site had this to say about him:
Enhanced his reputation with a fine showing in the midfield after
starting on the bench. Had four inside 50s in the first term and
finished with six for the match. Was Victoria's equal leading
ball-winner at half time, before finishing with 21 touches. Also chipped
in with a goal.
Rating: 8
The Herald Sun reports: The Saints were less keen to let the likes of Nathan Foley and Nathan
Brown run free - Shane Birss was a heavy tag on Foley, while the noted
niggler Steven Baker was minding Brown up forward.
Neither match-up worked with Foley busy at the stoppages with nine
clearances and Brown having a great night - a game-high 29 possessions
compared to Baker's six.
