Just for fun through the 2008 footy season, I'm going to chronicle the seasons of these two players through my own personal opinions listening to the game and via media outlets. Your feedback is welcome!
Regular Season
Round 16 - Richmond 16.12.108 - Essendon 15.14.104
I got to hear this game on the ABC Internet feed and enjoyed it immensely! I was a little freaked out in the 3rd period - I really thought we had this game under control - and am delighted that we hung on for the victory!
I know there's a lot of controversy about Bowden at the end of the game, but what he did was within the rules of the game even if it's not a popular play to make, let alone twice! I say good work!
Brett Deledio - The HUN site reports: "Richmond had earned a clear advantage in the first half with Mitch
Morton kicking four goals and Brett Deledio three in an open forward
line."
The Richmond club site states: "Mitch Morton and
Brett Deledio were good forward, while Chris Newman provided good run
all day."
My favorite reporting this week came from Sportal: "TURNING POINT: Brett Deledio put his team out by 29 points late in the
second quarter after marking in front of Nathan Lovett-Murray and the
Tigers still held a 24-point break at half-time.
CLASSIC GRAB: Brett Deledio showed his has skill in the air as well as
on the ground when he took a well-judged mark running full tilt into a
mass of players. He calmly went back and slotted the goal from 35m out.
Nathan Foley -
The HUN site reports: "Richmond's best was Brown with three terrific quarters and one absolute
stunner, and Foley, who was tagged early by Welsh until his injury,
picked up 31 possessions and set up numerous scoring chances with his
heavy duty work and quick run out of the middle."
The Fairfax site describes rather vividly how hard fought this game was when they wrote: "The sight of Foley, hunched over and heaving for breath
as he took a quick last-quarter break, illustrated their physical
struggles."
The Richmond club site states: "Nathan
Foley ran himself into the turf through the middle"
And ABC reports: "But it was the Tigers who secured the spoils in the final term, a
massive effort from Brown (26 disposals, 11 marks), along with some hard
work by Nathan Foley (31 touches) handed the boys from Punt Road the all
important four points."
