Nathan Foley

Just for fun through the 2008 footy season, I'm going to chronicle the seasons of these two players through my own personal opinions listening to the game and via media outlets. Your feedback is welcome!

Pre-season

Brett Deledio - FoxSports calls him "the next Richo", and Richardson himself says, "He is the quickest guy at the club, he benches the most, he's got great skills as well, and he's a good mark." Deledio says, "If I wasn't looking to take a step (up) this year, I would be disappointed." Referred to in fan forums as "Lids".

Nathan Foley - Called "one of the game's premier midfielders" in Sept. 2007 by Realfooty.com.au, Foley came in second behind Richo in Richmond's best and fairest. Named a joint vice-captain of the 2008 team along with Chris Newman. Terry Wallace says, "Both Chris and Nathan are very hard working, set great examples, and are very much respected within the group. We look forward to them helping shape the future of our club."

NAB Cup

Brett Deledio - Richmond was soundly defeated and the media is a bit harsh to our Tigers, but the Herald Sun still reported: Brett Deledio forward is a winner, the forward line at least has depth if not yet potency.

Regular Season

Tigers 17.7.109 - Blues 11.13.79

I wasn't able to listen to the game because it was broadcast the middle of my night, but good for the Tiges for pulling off a victory! Good night for Terry Wallace - finally! - and a good night for Royce Hart to take his place in the Tiger spotlight!

Brett Deledio - There's not in the media yet this morning to evaluate Deledio, but afl.com.au reports: Adam Pattison snapped truly, and when Brett Deledio and then Richardson goaled late in the term it was just a goal the difference at half-time. The HUN site has this to say: Everything Wallace tried in the second half worked: Nathan Brown and Brett Deledio were quiet but contributed five goals.

Nathan Foley - Again, not a lot of press on Foley thus far, but afl.com.au reports: Vice-captain Nathan Foley continued to run his legs off and drive his team forward. The club website interviewed Foley, who said: “They’re a quality midfield with guys like Judd and Stevens. They really go very deep there with guys like Murphy and Simpson and they can be very dangerous, but we stuck at it and we finished really strong which was good.”

The HUN site reported: Former rookies Nathan Foley and Jake King stemmed the flow early on, then assaulted Carlton with hard running and the sort of precise disposal that their teammates lacked.
