Richmond Football -- Round 5!

If you've been with me for 5 weeks, you already know that I'm no footy expert! If you're new to my site, the disclaimer is at the bottom of the page! Please read it so you know where I'm coming from!!

Whether you're new to the sport or a seasoned veteran, your comments and questions are always welcome! Send 'em to me and I'll share them here!

Hawthorn 14.11.95 - Richmond - 18.7.115

Does anyone know e-CPR? I think I'm in need of urgent medical care!

I'm writing at halftime and someone MUST (please!) tell me what has happened to our Tigers! I couldn't believe each passing minute of the first quarter when the Tiger score remained at goose eggs -- 0.0.0. I was gasping for air! Struggling to find oxygen! Feeling the noose around my neck!! I was never so happy when Richo kicked a behind! At least we finally had a score, even if it was only a minor!

Oddly enough, at quarter time when we were down by 38 points I was still optimistic. It was just too one-sided to seem real. I have a tendency to believe that if one team can go on a goal-kicking spree, the other team can, too. I was definitely concerned (not to mention humiliated) but I wasn't convinced the game was over.

When we'd made it half way through the second quarter and Hawthorn had only kicked two goals, I was even more optimistic. I was nervous when Richo lined up for goal, 15 meters out, straight in front -- and absolutely relieved when he goaled! I knew the next kick would be a tricky one, 50 out on a 45 degree angle, and I wasn't surprised when he didn't have the distance but I'm happy to give him kudos for the mark he took.

And then we ended up with a 4-goal kicking spree before half-time! Was that a welcome relief or what?! :-) As the third quarter begins, we're 27 points down. I don't know if we can pull this one off or not, but there's the siren! Let's go!!!

[pause for the 3rd quarter]

WE'RE LEADING!! WA HOOO!! This is SO exciting!!!!!!!! Who'd have thought we'd be ahead at 3 quarter time?!?!

I was sitting on the edge of my chair having heard the Tigers score 7 goals since half-time when suddenly the announcers said that Richo was down with what appeared to be a hammy. NO NO NO!!!! And then, just like that, I lost the audio feed! NO NO NO!!!! I frantically started pushing keys on my computer!! I couldn't get the NIRS feed with Bruce, David and Tony to play, so I swapped out to Triple M (which ironically wasn't working at the start of the game!) I missed behinds for each team but I guess I didn't miss much else. I have heard that "Spider" Everett is out with a fractured cheekbone, and it's been confirmed that Richo has a hamstring injury. My best wishes for both of them.

NOW...let's sit tight for the final quarter of what's turned out to be a WILD game! I LOVE AUSTRALIAN RULES FOOTBALL!!!
