Richmond Football -- Round 20!

If you've been with me this long, you already know that I'm no footy expert! If you're new to my site, the disclaimer is at the bottom of the page! Please read it so you know where I'm coming from!! Whether you're new to the sport or a seasoned veteran, your comments and questions are always welcome! Send 'em to me and I'll share them here!

Essendon 13.14.92 - Richmond 7.11.53

One thing I haven't mentioned thus far in these write-ups is the crowd size. Quoting from David Clayton's e-mail newsletter: "A cold and windy day saw almost 41,000, the lowest crowd to see these two clubs play for a while, make their way to the home of football to witness this match."

Imagine 41,000 being considered a small turnout! Aussies love their sport!

David Clayton ends his match report with the comment, "About 20,000 people decided not to attend a fixture they would previously go to, they made the right decision, all of them."

One of the things I can't wait for when I get to Australia is to see the MCG. It must be ENORMOUS! I'd like to see a smaller oval as well, but I just know I'm going to get goosebumps when I walk into the MCG for the first time! I really can't even imagine it, despite having seen photos.

I'm accustomed to large stadiums because I've been to my fair share of venues throughout the NFL in the US. Still, a footy ground is more round than a US football field and from what I've observed on television, the stands are set up differently as well. I can't wait for the experience! It's going to blow me away, I just know it is!!

About the game, well, we started out strong against Essendon but couldn't hold on to the lead and/or the momentum. It's hard to believe that we started the season so strong, only to lose 11 of the past 12 games. What can I say that hasn't already been said by the media? I love the Tigers anyway.
