Many wondered if Matthew Richardson was a spent force not long ago and eyebrows were raised at the 3 year contract Richmond had given the veteran forward.

What his detractors did not factor into the equation was that the big man was returning after an enforced layoff with a badly broken wrist and was in constant pain when the ball wasn't in his hands, let alone what shot through that wrist every time he took a grab or held an opponent off.
