Ohhhhh my goodness!! I'm still reeling from the come-from-behind victory of our Tigers last night!! This feels SO good! Not to confuse football codes or take away from the Tigers, but today was the NFL draft and it's rumored that my beloved Seahawks got some great players! I don't know how much more exitement I can take! There was a wonderful article on the AFL.com website today about the reaction of the players after we'd won the game. It's too good to keep to myself so in case you missed it, I'm sharing it here! The article can be found here.
What the Tigers said about the comeback “I don’t know what sparked us into action. What an amazing game, I don’t know what to say.” “I don’t think it’s really sunk in yet. I think we were just about down and out, to be fifty points down after a five-day break we were all feeling pretty tired. But to our credit we really fought it out well.” “You always try to stay positive on the footy field, otherwise it might have been a one-hundred point loss. I think the four goals before half-time really lifted us and we came into the rooms upbeat and came out firing in the third quarter.”
“That was one of the best wins I’ve ever played in. It’s unbelievable, it just feels fantastic.” “Danny came out at quarter time and told us what he thought. I think a lot of it came from the players too. The players just decided to dig in and do all the hard things and grind out a win.” “The way we played the last three quarters, we’ve got to get a lot of belief out of it.”
“Danny (Frawley) was pretty proud. I’ve never seen a coach so proud I don’t think and he definitely made everyone play pretty important in the end.” “Three wins in three games is pretty good and as long as we keep on winning I don’t mind spending time on the bench!” “Danny got stuck into us about looking after your teammates and helping each other out. We weren’t running. He really focused on helping each other out, getting numbers around the ball and he’s pretty emotional Spud. That’s a good way of getting the boys fired up.”
“Basically as a group I think we’ve become very strong and close and a few good wins like this can make the group even closer. Hopefully that can help.”
“It’s definitely the best win I’ve ever been in. I’ve never felt so many highs and lows in the same game.” “To come back and keep chipping away and then get the win that we did was the best thing I’ve ever felt.”
“We just stuck together and I think Cambo (Wayne Campbell), Joel Bowden and the boys in the middle led the way and we just clawed our way back.” “We’ll enjoy it tonight but then get down to the club on Monday and start again. Go through the game and then start focusing on the week after.”
“The boys had a lot of faith in themselves and the coaching staff and we thought we could win it and gratefully we did.” “Power of 22 like we say, so everyone’s got to contribute and I suppose I’ve just done my little bit.” Disclaimer: This site is intended for those of us who are relatively new to Aussie Rules Football.
