I'm not sure what to say about any of the boys this season with the way we've been playing. It's a struggle to keep believing in them, that's for sure.

Earlier in the week Mike Sheahan evaluated the Tiges. This is what he said:

1 gun, 12 blanks and everyone in between at Tigerland

Mike Sheahan analyses the Richmond players.

    Elite level: Nathan Brown.

Should be elite level: Brad Ottens.

Consistent at AFL level: Kane Johnson, Mark Coughlan, Wayne Campbell, Matthew Richardson, Mark Chaffey, Andrew Kellaway, Darren Gaspar.

Chaffey was rated as "consistent" but not elite. It's a bit surprising given the reports from the previous game that rang out along these lines:

    Tigers disgraceful, shocking

    Scott Gullan

Players that should have known better (like Mark Chaffey), kept giving it back to the Cats who had only just figured out that moving the ball fast and long was the key to success.

Mark Chaffey: Had one to forget with the normally reliable left-footer making numerous kicking errors. Looks badly out of sorts.

So I wasn't really sure what to think, but with all the trash talking of the Tigers this season, at least Chaffey's still getting some respect. I took that as a positive sign! Things could be worse! A lot worse!

And then we played Adelaide. And they got worse!

    More torment for Tigers

There were plenty of other candidates for the most resounding clanger of the night. Perhaps it was Brown's handball to Matthew Bode for an Adelaide goal, though the ball took a deflection off another Tiger defender.

Or maybe it was Mark Chaffey, who gifted Nathan Bock a goal with his first kick in AFL football when Chaffey kicked straight to him with a kick-in as the Crow came on to the ground during the second term.

So now Chaffey's on the list too, no doubt about it. I just really don't know what to say about any of the boys when we're sitting at the bottom of the ladder. Things will get better. They have to!! Let's just keep the faith...or at least not start throwing out our yellow and black just yet. Whatever the season holds, it's likely to be surprising. It certainly has been thus far!
