"I really felt tonight was a good night. I warmed up well. It was my night to do something. I don't know if you really look forward to it, but it's part of your job and you've got to handle it with poise." -- Kicker Josh Brown
"I must admit, it starts with me, because I was upset with the officials in the first half and I think there is a carryover from the head coach to the team. I don't want to send the wrong message to the team and I think I did at times in the first half. When I talk about getting more self-discipline, it starts with me."
-- Coach Holmgren
"Momentum’s a powerful thing and it definitely shifted in the second half. We had to get that back and we did. It shows the character of this team." -- DE Chike Okeafor
"As you walk on the field, you've got to find a way to make a play to win the game. It happened again." -- Chad Brown
"We've been playing that way the whole year. That's emotion. That's what the game's played with." -- DT Antonio Cochran

Week 6: Seattle 20 - San Francisco 19
Whew. Gotta catch my breath! That one was a thriller! We came out sooooooo fired up, and then it felt so horrible to see us begin to self-destruct. But these aren't the same old, same old Seahawks!! They fought to the end and WE WON!!!!!!!!!! Maybe it wasn't pretty but it was a victory and a thrilling one at that!! Gotta hand it to former Seahawks Coach Erickson for giving us a run for our money!!

Well, the first one is that they didn't have to make that as interesting as it turned out to be.
I could have done without the penalties, thank you very much, but to his credit, Hass and Alexander made the playes when they had to.
And I'm buyin' a Seahawks #26 jersey the first chance I get.

Yep, and to the fans in the stands as their noise level was helping to disrupt the 49'er offense on their crucial last
series. A win is a win; but the coaching staff is not going to be happy with the
way they played. The real bad news is that we might have lost CB Trufant for awhile. The good news is that CB Springs should be ready for next week. Also we might get DE King back as well. If we can be 4-1 and giving teams almost as much yardage in dumb penalties as they gain on their own, once these young guys grow up some more, we are gonna be a team that is
VERY tough to beat!
GO SEAHAWKS!!!!!
P.S. Correction

My bad. It was CB Lucas, NOT CB Trufant who was injured. However, Coach said that
there were no serious injuries in the game that will keep a player out for next week's game. Whew!! He also said that the team lacks DISCIPLNE, and that will be
addressed. Good! The 'warm and fuzzy' coaching served it's purpose, now it's back to reality. They've been around long enough now, time for them to grow up
if they want to go to the next level. It's gonna be thrilling - come along for the ride!!
GO SEAHAWKS!!!!!
Still Celebrating
Posted by Bunky on 10/13/2003, 9:01 am, in reply to "Re: Same Old Seahawks?"
Yeah, as beautiful as the first half was, the second half was just ugly. Penalties and the like. I take back what I said at halftime about our defense.
Geez, first half we owned Garcia and I really thought we'd knock him out of the game, second half he did whatever he wanted. But I've got to hand it to the Seahawks. "Sharpie" Owens was not a factor.
But a win is a win. I'll take that any day. And the 49ers are one of the teams I was worried about. We've shown we can beat them and I'll feel better about our chances next time we see 'em.
Minnesota is 5-0. If my fingernails grow back any, they'll just get chewed off again during that game.

Save those fingernails! I just kept gnawing harder and harder on Mose's 'Rumph Roast' bone as we made our
final game scoring drive. My nails are still intact and it worked like a charm!
MOSES PREDICTS GAME SIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by MOSES on 10/9/2003, 7:37 pm
HAIL TO THEE, O SEAHAWK FANS!!!!! IT IS I, MOSES, HERE TO PREDICT THE SEAHAWK/ forty noners GAME!!!!!!
LAST WEEK: It is true: You can’t go HOME again…
( ring…..ring…..Thomas Wolfe ??? Thomas Wolfe ??? Please pick up the white courtesy phone….) ……we are 3-1…
The Seahawks ran into a SERIOUS brick wall in Green Bay last week. They were out-hustled, outplayed, and out of the game by the fourth quarter!
BUT……..
All that unpleasantness behind us now, the Seahawks come HOME to a HOSTILE FULL HOUSE…. IN THEIR FAVOR!
The national spotlight will be placed squarely in the Seahawks’ faces as they entertain the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night in a return of “THE SHARPIE GAME”.
Ah, Sharpies.. What are they exactly? Are they pens? Are they markers? Are they STANDARD NFL UNIFORM EQUIPMENT??? No one seems to know….
( ring…..ring…..Pilot pen company??? Pilot pen company ??? Please pick up the white courtesy phone….)
BUT……..
No time to ponder the correct writing utensil classification of Sharpies… The game is the thing (with apologies to Hamlet)….
This game marks the first NFL return of Dennis Erickson to the Pacific Northwest where we was the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks for four L-O-N-G years… During that time, the Seahawks acquired an unremarkable 31-33 record. Let’s recap the genius that WAS… Dennis Erickson as Seahawk head coach..
1995- the Seahawks go 8-8.
1996- The Seahawks go 8-8…. AGAIN.
1997- Something DIFFERENT! The Seahawks go ….7-9.
1998- SURPRISE! The Seahawks go 8-8… YET AGAIN!
Wow! Stunning, eh? Certainly, there needs to be a name attached to such an… era of football.. Which brings us to THIS WEEK’S TOP THREE !!!
So, here from our office SOMEWHERE NEAR .500 comes……….. (drum roll)….
“THE TOP THREE SUGGESTED NICKNAMES FOR THE DENNIS ERICKSON ERA IN SEATTLE SEAHAWK FOOTBALL”
3. “COMMITMENT TO MEDIOCRITY”
2. “BEST 8-8 TEAM IN THE LEAGUE”
1. “UNDERACHIEVEMENT IS SUCCESS”
( ring…..ring….. Rick Mirer??? Rick Mirer ??? Please pick up the white courtesy phone….)
THREE PLAYERS TO WATCH FOR the forty noners:
1. TERRELL OWENS: That’s not a mouthpiece! It’s a PACIFIER!
2. JEFF GARCIA: Even NICE GUYS snap when they hear too much whining.
3. JULIAN PETERSON: Quite a handful.
THREE PLAYERS TO WATCH FOR THE SEAHAWKS:
1. SHAUN ALEXANDER: Freaks come out at night. Shaun comes out in PRIME TIME!
2. KEN HAMLIN: Sign THIS, T.O.!
3. CHRIS TERRY: All is forgiven if we can now run to the RIGHT!!
SO, CAN THEY DO IT?????
MOSES PREDICTS:
SEAHAWKS 34
San Francisco forty noners 17
SO LET IT BE WRITTEN, SO LET IT BE DONE!!!!!

Our appreciation of 500+ players and coaches who got us this far!
The other side
"This is a very disappointing loss, as hard as we fought to come back." -- 49ers Coach Dennis Erickson
"They just had us off-balance early. That's a good offensive football team. But I really tip my hat off to our players and the way they responded." -- 49ers Defensive Coordinator Jim Mora
"We start out slow in the first half and then try to make it up in the second half. We've got to find a way to put two good halves together." -- 49ers cornerback Ahmed Plummer
"We were able to come back in the second half and play pretty well. But when it really counted, we weren't able to get them stopped so we could get the ball back." -- 49ers Def. Tackle Bryant Young
