"You are going to get maybe 10 batted balls like that in a season and we got two during the fourth quarter that both ended up as interceptions. It's really disappointing, but I don't know what you can do about it." -- QB Matt Hasselbeck
"Nobody's panicking in here. We feel bad because we lost, and we should, but nobody's panicking." -- Fullback Mack Strong
"We haven't settled into the combination that we like the best, quite honestly. There is a good chance Lamar King comes back this week, which adds another dimension to the defensive line. We're going to move people around." -- Mike Holmgren regarding the defense.
"It's not the end of the world, but it deflates you a little bit." QB Matt Hasselbeck
"It was real exciting. I said to myself, OK, if I score a touchdown in the fourth quarter, I've got to do the Ickey Shuffle." -- RB Shaun Alexander
"I wish we could have pulled (out) a victory, but I probably made them all happy because I played well and we lost. So I've got to go beat them all up, whoever prayed that, because their prayers were answered." -- RB Shaun Alexander
"We had 462 yards on offense, we had the highest third-down conversion rate of our season and we were pretty good in the red zone. But we had the five turnovers and one was on the 25-yard line going in, another one on the 30 going in, and it cost us the football game." -- Mike Holmgren
"Give them credit. They took advantage of it and they won.'' -- Coach Mike Holmgren

Week 8: MOSES was there!
As I sat down to tell you all about my weekend, I did
not know how to start. Of course, we all KNOW how it
ended. Not the fairy tale ending that we all that
braved the RUDE Bengal crowd and cold weather had
hoped. But EXCEPT for that SLIGHT trip up on Sunday, I
still believe that simply put, this weekend was the
most treasured Seahawk Memory that I have EVER
experienced.
My wife and I arrived around 3 pm to check into our
room. The dinner was still HOURS away, but we decided
to go on up to "check out" the situation. There were
already a FEW Seahawk fans milling around upstairs in
the dinner room. Two of them introduced themselves to
us. Ray and Jon both are season ticket holders who sit
in the "Hawk's Nest", Ray is from Denver and Jon is
from Seattle. We talked about Seahawk football for
HOURS. Ray and Jon were two of the NICEST guys I have
ever met.
While we waited, I mentioned to them that I was
interested in meeting the most famous Seahawk fan of
all, "Kiltman". They informed me that you could not
FIND a nicer and more pleasant guy in the world that
"Kiltman". For those of you who do not know, Kiltman
was the recent Pro Football Hall of Fame Fan inductee
representing the Seattle Seahawks.
I soon found out that what Ray and Bob said about
"Kiltman" was entirely true. Not only is he one of the
NICEST guys I have ever met, he was one of the
classiest. There was no doubt in my mind that the NFL
had enshrined the BEST SEAHAWK FAN the day they
inducted Kiltman into the Hall of Fame.
There were so many other fans there from around the
country in attendance that the room seemed to be wall
to wall Seahawk fans. Fans and presidents and members
from other Seahawker organizations made the long trip
from as far away as Seattle itself. Everyone was
mingling with Seahawk fans from across this entire
country. Stories were shared, pictures were taken, and
laughter and good times filled the banquet hall!
Oh, yeah. Then came the guests of honor. You wonder
about people who are brought in to speak to groups.
Are they just coming because they HAVE to? Do they
want to be somewhere else? Are they going to just show
up and talk for a couple of minutes and then sneak
out?
Well, I can proudly tell you all that Brian Davis,
"THE Voice of the Seahawks" was FAR from that kind of
speaker. From the moment the elevator opened and he
appeared, he was class from beginning to end. He
readily mingled around the group, sharing stories and
talking to everyone. He was a person who really
listened to everyone who talked to him and cared about
what was said. He was truly everything that a Seahawk
fan could wish for in their favorite football team
play by play announcer.
Also joining the guest list was Steve Niehaus, the
first pick from the Seattle Seahawks 1976 draft.
Again, happy to talk and readily there for fans, Steve
did not disappoint. He was a true joy and added more
class to an evening that was already filled with
Seahawk class and pride.
Also attending was Duran Alexander, the older brother
of Shaun Alexander, who represented Shaun's Shaun
Alexander Family Foundation at the function. I am sure
that Shaun would have been very proud of how gracious
his older brother was with all of the Seahawk fans in
attendance.
Following the speakers we were offered an opportunity
to earn fantastic prizes playing "Bingo" with proceeds
going towards the Shaun Alexander Family Foundation.
Our organization earned over $600 on bingo cards ALONE
for this worthy cause. Bingo was a very spirited and
fun time for all involved. With lots of great Seahawk
giveaways at stake, their was a lot of good natured
enthusiasm and excitement with each call of a number
from our chapter president.
The next morning brought us to an indoor tailgating
party due to inclement weather. More giveaways were
raffled off. Everyone was "suited up" to cheer on the
"good guys" as Brian Davis likes to refer to our
Seahawks as. More socializing, exchanges of emails,
addresses, and game preparation for many of us
"superstitious" fans.
When we entered Paul Brown Stadium, many of us when
down to the field to watch warm-ups and cheer the
players as they entered the field. The players seemed
very happy to see so much blue! They looked over at
us, talked and smiled, and made us feel like they were
happy to see us there. High fives were passed out to
the fans as the players entered and exited the tunnels
and those of us who were there will not EVER forget
the feeling of being a part of it all!
When you live 3,000 miles away from your favorite NFL
team, personal contact with them is fleeting. We do
not get to have a lot of contact, so what contact we
DO have is often the only way we have of judging an
entire organization. This weekend, the individuals
that I met representing Seattle Seahawk football
organization showed me that I root for an organization
that represents itself to their fans with class. The
Seahawker fan club has left an unforgettable mark in
my mind as a group of individuals who are more than
just a group of fans. They are a family that cares for
each other. Being a "Seahawk fan" took on a whole new
meaning for me. Not only will I continue to support
the Seahawks, but I have learned that we fans are a
close family and that the Seahawks are a class
organization.
As I look back on all the great people I met this
weekend, I simply can't let a 3 point loss take away
from all of the happiness I felt. Our chapter
president, Marty Black, and vice president Peter
Flores put together a weekend that I will NEVER
forget, and I will be always grateful to them for this
opportunity. Thank you to all who I met this weekend
and I look forward to seeing all of you again soon!
