"All of the things we talked about and worked on all week we couldn't do. We played poorly. These are big games. You have to be ready to compete in big games and we didn't compete very well." -- Mike Holmgren
"Our goal was to try and knock him (Moss) around, but unfortunately we didn't and he got into his comfort zone." -- Cornerback Ken Lucas
"I'm angry about how we played. The true test of this team will be how we bounce back from this." -- QB Matt Hasselbeck
"They came to play and whupped us today. We're going to shake this off and be ready Wednesday at practice." -- WR Darrell Jackson

Week 14: Seattle 7 - Minnesota 34
We got trounced. Royally.
I thought we were going to do alright because we had some great plays early in the game. Bobby Engram was on a roll, and I just love it when Koren Robinson fights for more yardage after a catch. He rarely goes down on the first hit. We all know by now that Hasselbeck is more than just reliable, he's one of the elite quarterbacks in the division! So what happened?
I can't answer that. Chalk it up to our struggle all season on the road, I guess. This loss sure puts pressure on us.
Best wishes to Bobby Engram for a speedy and complete recovery from the concussion he received. I was amazed when he walked off the field on his own. He's a fighter!

Stupid Seahawks.
MOSES PREDICTS GAME THIRTEEN!!!!!
Posted by MOSES on 12/4/2003, 6:52 pm
HAIL TO THEE, O SEAHAWK FANS!!!!! IT IS I, MOSES, HERE TO PREDICT THE SEAHAWK/ vi-queen GAME!!!!!!
LAST WEEK: Only J.P. Darche’s backside prevented a shutout! WE ARE 8-4!!!!!
Last week, the Seattle Seahawks restored swagger and dominance by schlacking the Cleveland Browns 34-7. Yes, the Seahawks once again proved there is no place like home.
( ring…..ring…..Judy Garland ??? Judy Garland ??? Please pick up the white courtesy phone….)
BUT……..
The NFL MAKES YOU play 8 home games and 8 road games. So, the Seahawks fly out to the Great White North to take on the Minnesota Vikings in a clash of two powerhouses from the first half of this season..
BUT……..
While the Seahawks continue to stay buoyant in the NFC playoff pool, the Minnesota Vikings have begun a sinking to the NFC ocean floor that hasn’t been seen since 1912!
v
( ring…..ring….. Kate Winslet ??? Kate Winslet ??? Please pick up the white courtesy phone….)
Once the 6-0 NFC superpower, these Vikings have gone from “Purple Powerhouse” to “Purple POORhouse” by losing 5 of their next 6, giving up over an average of 32 points a game! The most recent was last week’s 48-17 smacking from the St. Louis Rams. Ouch!
The Vikings seem to be falling from NFL grace faster than a priest on “Dollar Longneck” Night at Hooter’s!
Talk about your FREE FALLIN’ OUT INTO NOTHIN’!!!
( ring…..ring….. Tom Petty ??? Tom Petty ??? Please pick up the white courtesy phone….)
So,, what in the name of Fran Tarkenton is going on in Minnesota? You need only to look at the Viking defense for your answer. Ranked 29th in the NFL, this defense is a poor combination of not being able to stop the run or pass…
BUT……..
One thing this team DOES have is an offense. #1 in the NFL overall and very potent. Randy Moss continues to call for and get the ball, and Dante Culpepper has proven that he is STILL a quality quarterback in a linebacker body to be dealt with.
You know, when people think of Minnesota, many things come to mind. The Mall of America, the Twin Cities, and of course ice fishing…
Speaking of ice fishing (and I actually WAS), I know that when I think of Minnesota, I often think of one of my all time favorite movies: Fargo. The movie that puts a lowlife car salesman into hot water, puts Arby’s all over the face of Frances McDormand, and puts Dave Buscemi in a wood chipper…
( ring…..ring….. Coen Brothers ??? Coen Brothers ??? Please pick up the white courtesy phone….)
After I get through the Fargo references, I think of the Minnesota motto: “Land of 10,000 Lakes”. And they aren’t kiddin’! Talk about Land O’ Lakes! This place is loaded with the water holes!
Check out some of the funnier REAL LAKE NAMES in Minnesota:
- LAKE MINNETONKA (The lake for toy trucks)
- LAKE WINNIBIGOSHISH ( I hope to retuire someday and travel across the United States in a Winnibigoshish!)
- LAKE MINNEWASKA (The lake for Wittle questions)
- LEECH LAKE (A lake for lawyers)
- And of course…. LAKE TITICACA…
Okay, okay.. Lake Titicaca is actually in South America, but it fits in this list, doesn’t it? Besides, I snicker like a 7 year old when a say it out loud… Titicaca….hee hee hee..
BUT I DIGRESS….
While researching the many lake names of Minnesota (did I mention I have a lot of free time?), I found some names of Minnesota lakes that seem to fit the Viking 2003 season..
So, here from our office in THE LAND OF 10,000 LAKES comes……….. (drum roll)….
“THE TOP THREE FICTIONAL MINNESOTA LAKE NAMES THAT FIT THE 2003 VIKING SEASON”
3. LAKE PAK-A-SOON-A-PASS-U
2. LAKE ENZ-A-SEE-SUN-BAD-LEE
1. LAKE DEEE-FEN-NO-STOP-PA-NO-ONE
THREE PLAYERS TO WATCH FOR the vi-queens
1. RANDY MOSS: It’s hard to complain when you have over 50 receptions more than anyone else on the team!
2. DANTE CULPEPPER: Is a 270 pound quarterback REALLY FAIR?
3. BENNETT/WILLIAMS/SMITH: A three headed running machine!
THREE PLAYERS TO WATCH FOR THE SEAHAWKS:
1. MATT HASSELBECK: This week the three letters “MVP” may start slipping out of people’s lips about him.
2. SHAUN ALEXANDER: Remember the 5 TD’s last time against Minnesota? I bet THEY do!
3. JOHN RANDLE: Welcome home. Remember how HARD the turf was? Show Dante!
SO, CAN THEY DO IT?????
MOSES PREDICTS:
SEAHAWKS 37
Minn-e-NO-ta vi-queens 26
SO LET IT BE WRITTEN, SO LET IT BE DONE!!!!!
MOSES

Our appreciation of 500+ players and coaches who got us this far!
The other side
"It was without a doubt the best performance of the year for our football team. We showed some youngness at times, still, and I'm sure we'll continue to do that, but the guys played hard." -- Vikings Coach Mike Tice, former Seattle Seahawk
"We feel we have a great chance, whenever we can block them up and throw it downfield, we have a great chance of coming down with the ball." -- Vikings QB Daunte Culpepper
