You and Me
a Collection of Recent Pictures, Verses, Fables, Aphorisms and Songs
by Michael Leunig

Overview
From Barnes & Noble
"Insights and outbursts on a heroic scale, including lots of ducks."

My thoughts
Michael Leunig. Such drama, such depth, such humor, such naughtiness! I think you either like Leunig or you don't, without much wiggle room for straddling the fence!

The first time I came across a Leunig cartoon, thanks to my mate Leigh in Australia, I wasn't sure what to make of it. I was quite certain I didn't understand it but there was something that made me want to see more. In no time at all I'd become a huge Leunig fan, mostly because when a cartoon has particular relevance to my life, to my world, it makes me gasp. Sometimes with fear. Sometimes with the cold realization of truth. Sometimes with surprise followed by fall-on-the-floor laughter!

This book is not my favorite Leunig book because it has a lot of dark drawings, but the uplifting and inspiring cartoons inside the cover make it a treasured item in my Leunig collection! I purchased it from eBay and it contains, just inside the front cover, an inscription: You're brilliant. Love U. xoxoxox To the person who wrote the inscription and to the intended recipient, I wish The Haves. (See review of The Stick to understand!)

How To Be of Value:

Stare into a bucket of
water until your
reflection appears.

Then gently pour the
reflection out onto the
ground.

Soon it will evaporate

and become a cloud.

Then it will rain

and you will be part
of the great cycle of
refreshment and growth.
