Ramming the Shears
by Michael Leunig

Overview
From Curly Flat
Actually since this is an out of date book I'm unable to find quotes from the publisher, but I did find this at the Curly Flat website.

The irony of show business is depicted so succinctly in "Ramming the Shears". We see a hall, which could just as easily be an entertainment complex, viewed from behind on a starry night. The carpark is jammed with cars including a Rolls Royce and we can see the aura of the bright lights on the front of the hall. Central to the cartoon is the Stage Door at the back of the hall, a humble doorway illuminated by a single light, and parked next to the door is a bicycle.

My thoughts
Oops! I'm pretty sure this isn't on the recommended Lenten reading list! Can't help it. You all know how I love Michael Leunig and his thought-provoking (and often head-scratching) drawings. This book comes from 1985 and contains a significant number of his dark drawings, although it's got some absolutely beautiful ones as well.

Favorite Passage
The first has no caption; the second is called "winter".
