A Child is Born
by Lennart Nilsson (Photographer), Linda Schenck (Translator), Lars Hamberger

Overview
From the Publisher
This completely revised edition of the beloved international classic is now entirely in color, with historic, never-before-seen photos in every chapter and an entirely new text.

My thoughts
Well, um, you see, it's like this ... I don't actually have the book you see pictured. I have the edition from ... (cringing) ... the early 80's.

But what a book it is!

I recommend EVERYONE who is pregnant to pick up a copy of this book! Mine was a gift to me from my mother-in-law, and I have treasured it for 20 years! It is a terrific book to give as a gift, especially to a young expectant woman, to help her celebrate the miracle of the baby living in her womb!

The book has spectacular photography of the development of a baby. I remember looking at a photo, knowing the baby in my belly was at the stage of the photograph, dreaming all the wonderful dreams of an expectant mother. I don't know if I ever actually read the book cover to cover, though I certainly read the sections that I felt were applicable to me. But the book is well worth the cover price for the photography alone.

Note from Becky
All books with a read date prior to fall 2003 were not added to this website at the time I read the books; rather they were added after 2005 as I organized my home library. For that reason, the reviews are less substantial than the reviews of the books I have more recently read. That does not mean that the older books were less enjoyable; only that a lot of time has passed since I first read them and I haven't taken the time to go back and review the books. Perhaps in time that will come.
