Steve Largent on striking (Feb. 24, 1982):

do. “Pointing to the three priorities in his life: ‘One is that I’m a
Christian. God’s word calls a contract a vow. I have made a vow with
the Seattle Seahawks that I’m going to play football three more years
because I’m under contract that many years. To break that vow would

care of my family.
Thirdly, I’m a football player and I wouldn’t strike
for the reason they (NFLPA) would ask me to right now.”
