Seattle 24 - St. Louis 19
Week 12, November 25, 2007
I have higher hopes for this team than any other team I’ve been on in the (15 years) I’ve been here. -- Mack Strong
Best, Worst, Most Absurd | And the winner is ... |
Our Defense | Kudos to the line that kept the potentially game winning touchdown at bay! That was TOUGH defense! |
Patrick Kerney | Mr Sack Man! That was exciting, and I loved the interception as well! |
Matt Hasselbeck | One tough QB! I'm not a proponent of "play through pain" but he somehow pulled this game off. Amazing! |
Boo! Hiss! Holmgren! | Last week I loved the 4th down call; this week I hated the clock management around the three minute mark. We needed to go for a first down instead of just running time off the clock. It nearly cost us the game. |
Hass to Branch | It was a rocky start that worked out in the end! |
Injuries | Happy Healing to DJ Hackett and Lofa Tatupu - it was one hard hitting game. |
I love the early games. It’s a little hard to get organized in time sometimes but it’s much better than having to wait!
Nate Burleson fields the kick-off from inside the end zone and runs out to the 27. Nice run.
1st and 10 for the Seahawks – Pass to Heller who catches it and drops it. Oh, that was scary!
2nd and 10 – SACK. Ouch. That couldn’t have felt good on Matt’s bruised ribs. Hass got hammered.
3rd and 17 – SACK. Ouch, ouch. At this rate Hasselbeck won’t be in by the end of the game.
4th and long – We punted from near the goal line. Rams will have great field position.
1st and 10 for the Rams – Jackson to run for a 4 yard gain.
2nd and 6 – Pass to the sidelines to Bruce for a first down.
1st and 10 – Jackson to run but we’d sniffed that one out. No gain.
2nd and 10 – Flags. False start and they can’t even blame it on the Seahawks home crowd since we’re on the road today!
2nd and 15 – Holt was wide open for a big reception. Where is our defense?
1st and 10 – Pass to Jackson and Tatupu had a good tackle to stop him from getting a lot more.
2nd and 8 – Rams are inside the 30. Hall runs, reverses, puts a lot of mileage in to get back to the line of scrimmage.
3rd and 8 – SACK, ball is loose. Rocky Bernard tried to scoop up the ball instead of falling on it. Rams recover but it takes them out of field goal range.
4th and they’re-not-telling-us – Oh my gosh, great special teams play by the Rams, lucky bounce, we’re starting deep.
1st and 10 for the Seahawks after really annoying commercial breaks – The Lowe’s commercial where the woman plays charades is really annoying. 8:49 left in the 1st quarter. We’re at the 2 yard line. Gulp. Flags. Morris tries to run and gets to the goal line. False start on Weaver.
1st and 11 – Safety. I was afraid that was going to happen. What an ugly start to this game.
Seattle 0 – St. Louis 2
Seattle kicks off to the Rams. They run it back to mid-field. Meanwhile we’re watching the Wal-mart Christmas commercial for the fifteenth time this morning.
1st and 10 – Jackson runs in for a touchdown. He ran right through us. The stadium is full of empty seats. Too bad for the Rams fans that they didn’t get to see that run. PAT is good.
Seattle 0 – St Louis 9
Rams kick off to the Seahawks. Burleson and Wilson were in the same spot to catch the ball. They appeared to have some sort of brief communication before Wilson took off running. He ran and ran, cut back at one point and crossed the goal line. Josh Wilson TOUCHDOWN!!! He ran it 89 yards and he was about out of gas! PAT is good and we’re on the board! That feels better!
Seattle 7 – St Louis 9
Seattle kicks off to the Rams. They had a decent return.
1st and 10 – Running play and a short gain.
2nd and 9 – Pass to Holt who wasn’t quite ready for the catch.
3rd and 9 – Bulger under pressure, Bulger throws some weird shuffle and the Seahawks end up with the ball thanks to Kerney’s determination. On replay, the ball bounced among several players and Kerney actually caught it. COOL.
1st and 10 for the Seahawks – Flags. False start. This time it was Jones.
1st and 15 from the 35 – Mo to run for next to nothing.
2nd and 14 – Hass to Branch. It hits his hands and bounces up in the air. How long are they going to use timing for an excuse. It’s November, for crying out loud.
3rd and 14 – Time out Seahawks. Hey, I think the Rams were off-sides. If not they were sure off the line fast. Pass to Engram. Far short of the first down marker but we’re in field goal range now.
4th and ? – Josh to try a field goal and it’s no good. What a messy game this is today. Bulger is going off the field. Frerotte is in.
1st and 10 for the Rams. Pressure on Frerotte who loses the ball due to Kerney’s ferocity. Rams recover.
2nd and 16 – Jackson to run. He got 3 yards.
3rd and 13 – Our defense was running all around – what was that deal? Anyway, Frerotte threw quickly and I’m not sure whether or not it was caught. Yep, they’re saying it was a catch. I’d like to see a replay on that one. Anyway, the Rams have to punt.
4th and Fox-isn’t-telling-us – Burleson back to field it. Burleson runs back, the ball pops loose after a great hurdle of a defender, and the Rams recover.
1st and 10 for the Rams at the 30 yard line. Jackson to run and he’s hit hard by a lot of defenders.
2nd and 6 – Bulger has sore ribs and back. He’s being examined in the locker room to see if he can come back to play. Meanwhile Jackson to run again. Nice tackle.
3rd and 4 – The Rams have switched centers as well. Shotgun. Pass to Holt for a huge first down. He has magic hands.
1st and 10 – Frerotte to Hall for a gain of zip.
2nd and 10 – Pittman to run, hits a wall, keeps going, gets 4. That was pure power running.
3rd and 6 – The lights are reflecting off the helmet of Kerney! Funny! Touchdown Rams. Pass to Bruce – that was beautiful. Again, too bad the stadium isn’t full to see that play. PAT is good.
Seattle 7 – St Louis 16
The Rams kick off to the Seahawks – Burleson runs it back to the 27, again hurdling a player. He goes end over end but hangs one!
1st and 10 for the Seahawks – Pass too low to Heller and it’s incomplete. Hass is furious. He should be upset with himself. Ahem.
2nd and 10 – Pass to Hackett near the first down marker.
*** END OF FIRST QUARTER ***
3rd and 3 – Mo to run and doesn’t make it.
4th and 1 – Fight – well, it’s short lived. Oh, Hass and Branch are on the sidelines jawing. Looks like more than their timing is out of whack. The Big Duh ad for that-one-car-maker is truly annoying. If I’d planned to buy their vehicle I’d change my mind after seeing that ad.
1st and 10 for the Rams – Jackson to run and he never goes down with the first tackle.
2nd and 4 – Flags. I think we were off-sides but it doesn’t matter because the Rams had a nice play.
1st and 10 – Frerotte throws it, McMichael catches it and it bounces up, and he catches it again on his way to the turf. EXCELLENT reception. Incredible.
1st and 10 – Jackson to run for two.
2and 8 –Pass to Jackson but we couldn’t bring him down. He nearly got a first down again. He’s got great hair, too.
3rd and 1 – Pittman to run – they gave him the first down? I didn’t see that! Rams take a time-out. I want to see that last carry again. I didn’t see it as a first down. They’re not showing it though.
1st and 10 – Jackson to run and he losses ayard. NICE defense by Terrill.
2nd and 10 – Bulger has a concussion and he’s out. Frerotte to Bruce for a first down.
1st and goal from the 1 – Time-out, St Louis. Jackson to run and he gets stuffed. Not sure where they’ll spot it but I think he lost a yard.
2nd and goal – Jackson to run again after a pass and he loses more yards. They call it 4.
3rd and goal from the 5 – Flags. Delay of game. COOL!
3rd and goal from the 10 – Not a problem with Frerotte. This is probably in his favor. Pass is too high to Bruce. Whew! Love it! We caught a break thanks to awesome defense.
4th and goal – Field goal attempt of 28 yards – It’s good but there are flags. Neutral zone infraction on us. Half the distance. They can’t decline it and take the points? 23 yard attempt. It’s good.
Seattle 7 – St Louis 19
The Rams kick off to the Seahawks. Burleson is hit hard but hangs on.
1st and 10 for the Seahawks at the 21 yard line – Hass to throw long and overshoots Engram. I don’t care if Hass is made, he’s hurt. He can’t throw today.
2nd and 10 – Pass to Pollard in heavy traffic. Complete for a short gain.
3rd and 3 – Pass to Hackett, first down! FINALLY! I think the Rams jumped off sides again but there are no flags. They’re sure getting off the line fast.
1st and 10 – Where are the flags for that one? Burleson was mauled. The pass fell incomplete.
2nd and 10 – Pass was batted down.
3rd and 10 – Shotgun, he steps up, shotgun, time out. That’s our 2nd. SACK. That’s #3.
4th and 10 – We punt. They fair catch.
1st and 10 for the Rams. Long sideline pass. Incomplete.
2nd and 10 – Jackson to run for 4.
3rd and 6 – Ball is batted down. Nice job on our defense. Tatupu got his hand up nicely.
4th and 6 – Rams to punt. Burleson to receive. Nice high kick and Burleson gets 4 before he’s gang tackled.
1st and 10 for the Seahawks – Hass to Pollard for a nice gain. Good run after the catch.
1st and 10 – Pass to Engram who runs after the catch.
2nd and 3 – Mo to run and he gets the first down. We’re playing much faster now. Finally.
1st and 10 from the 50. Ball was tipped but Engram caught it anyway.
2nd and 6 – Pass to Engram for another first down. We’re moving quickly. Ut-oh. Bartell for the Rams is injured. He’s rolling from side to side in pain. That’s a killer for our speed game and momentum.
1st and 10 – Pass to Hackett on the sidelines and it was not on target.
2nd and 10 - Pass to Hackett after a roll-out and it’s a first down.
1st and 10 – Rams were off-sides. Hass to run. The Rams got caught this time but I swear they’ve done it at least 3 other times.
1st and 5 – Hass throws a lofter in the end zone and it goes right to a Ram, who makes a bad decision to run it out and gets tackled. I hate those high, lofty passes that take forever to get there. We have scored touchdowns on those passes but there is such an opportunity for something bad to happen in the time it takes the ball to get there. I don’t like the lofty ones. They’re blaming the interception on Burleson for running the route wrong.
1st and 10 for the Rams – Jackson to run.
2nd and ? – Jackson to run again. Seattle took a time out. 1:13 left in the game.
3rd and 8 – Jackson to run for no gain again. The boo birds come out in St Louis.
4th and 8 - :43 left. Rams are letting the clock run down. :33 left. :28 left. :25 seconds left when the Rams take a time-out. Burleson fields the punt.
1st and 10 for the Seahawks – Tatupu is shown going in the locker room. Ut-oh. That’s disastrous. Maybe he just needs taped or something. :11 left in the game. Shotgun. High snap. Ball falls incomplete.
2nd and 10 - :07 left. Hass to Branch in tight coverage. Incomplete.
3rd and 10 - :02 left. Pass to Branch as time runs out in the half.
*** HALF TIME ***
Seahawks kick off to the Rams.
1st and 10 for the Rams – Jackson to run.
2nd and 9 – Frerotte to pass to Jackson.
3rd and 5 – Pass is batted down. Nice play. Peterson got his hands on it.
4th and 5 – Rams will punt. Burleson finds a couple of holes and gets 18 yards on the return.
1st and 10 for the Seahawks - Big pass to Engram. 17 yards. NICE.
1st and 10 from mid-field – We’re playing like we’re double-parked? What does that mean? Pass to Branch, first down.
1st and 10 – Mo to run. Near the first down. We’re already inside the 20. Go figure.
2nd and 1 – Mo to run for a loss. Another Ram is on the turf injured.
3rd and 2 – I HATE the commercial where the woman try to run down the Burger King guy. Hass runs for the first down when there was nothing open down field.
1st and 10 – Ball falls on the ground, Hass picks it up and throws it away. Amazing athletic ability by Hass.
2nd and 10 – Sack. That’s #4.
3rd and 14 – Time out Seahawks. Wait…now they’re saying it’s 3rd and 19. Maybe we didn’t get the time out in time. Hackett is down after the catch. He’s getting up.
4th and something – Josh to get the field goal. Hackett is being helped to the bench. This isn’t good.
Seahawks 10 – St Louis 19
Seahawks kick off to the Rams. They get a nice return.
1st and 10 – Pass to Bruce who gets first down.
1st and 10 – Jackson to run for a nice gain.
2nd and 4 – Holt catches a pass for a first down.
1st and 10 – Jackson to run but we had some pretty decent defense.
2nd and 5 – Nice defense on a pass to the outside.
3rd and 3 – Pressure, pass, could have been picked. Rats, we needed that.
4th and 3 – Rams will punt. Flags. Rams tried to pull us off-sides. They took the penalty. Declined. It goes into the end zone. Now we have to suffer through the Lowe’s commercial again with charades.
1st and 10 for the Seahawks – Near interception. Incomplete.
2nd and 10 – Pass to Branch and he dropped it in heavy traffic. He was double teamed.
3rd and 10 – Hass threw it away. He threw to the feet of Engram.
4th and 10 – Hackett is reported as reinjuring the ankle that was injured before. NICE punt. And no one is tackling Hall. The show more empty seats in the stadium. Hall is hobbling to the sidelines. This is an aggressive game.
1st and 10 for the Rams – Jackson to run, loses the ball, Rams recover.
2nd and 13 – TRUFANT INTERCEPTION!! We needed that desperately! Ohhh, we caught a break. Now we MUST do something with it!
1st and 10 for the Seahawks – Throw into heavy traffic to Heller, incomplete. These are dangerous passes.
2nd and 10 - BIG run by Mo Morris! LOVE that play!!! Nice job! The Rams had forgotten that we have an RB in the game! NICE job!! 46 yards. Sweeeeet!
1st and 10 – Mo to run.
2nd and 6 – Oh my gosh, that was a fantastic catch by sure hands Engram! NICE!
1st and goal – TOUCHDOWN BRANCH!!!! Engram and Branch bump each other. Love it, love it! It’s been a tough game today. PAT is good.
Seahawks 17 – Rams 19
Seahawks kick off to the Rams. Nice tackle by Laury who bear hugged him to bring him down.
1st and 10 for the Rams – Frerrote has all day to throw. Pass to Holt for a first down.
1st and 10 – Jackson to run.
2nd and 7 – Now they’re dogging the Rams. Sheesh, earlier they were praising them. Announcers are so wishy washy. Meanwhile there’s a lousy pass to no one that falls incomplete.
3rd and 7 – Frerotte goes deep to Holt, we blitz, ball is off target. Whew.
4th and 7 – They say this is the 5th three and out for the Rams today but that wasn’t a 3 and out. Oops! Burleson fields it but is tackled right away.
1st and 10 for the Seahawks – Mo to run for a short gain.
2nd and 7 – Pass into heavy coverage. Branch doesn’t get the catch and it falls incomplete.
3rd and 7 – SACK. #5 for the day.
4th and 7 – We down the ball around the 40.
1st and 10 for the Rams – Jackson to run.
*** END OF THIRD QUARTER ****
2nd and something – Pass to Little.
3rd and 9 – Unabated to the QB on us. Bummer. That’s our 5th penalty which ends the streak that had set an NFL record.
3rd and 4 – Pass to Bennett for a first down.
1st and 10 – Pittman to run for a short gain.
2nd and 6 – Frerrote has all day to throw. What’s up with that?
1st and 10 – Pittman to run and we cover the play nicely.
2nd and 9 – The Rams are taking a lot of time off the clock with this drive. Pass to Holt, incomplete. We pressured Frerrote but he just stepped up and passed.
3rd and 9 – There’s a sack! Finally! Kerney got him! Good deal!
4th and something – Engram lets the punt go and it ends up in the end zone. Just barely.
1st and 10 for the Seahawks – Pass to Branch, out of bounds.
2nd and 10 – Hass to Branch for a big first down. 15 yards on the play.
1st and 10 – Pass to Mo for a short gain.
2nd and 5 – Pass to Engram in the middle of the field. 19 yards on that play. Very nice.
1st and 10 – Draw to Morris. I like the call. Short gain.
2nd and 7 – Pass to Branch with Hass under pressure. He rolled the same way as the defender. Hmmmm…that was amazing.
1st and 10 – Mo to run for a nice gain.
2nd and 4 – Pass to Heller just shy of the first down.
3rd and 1 – Mo to run and just barely made it. Flag. Face mask? Yes.
1st and goal – Weaver touchdown! He just pushed forward straight down the middle! Sweeeeet!
PAT is good.
Seattle 24 – St Louis 19
Seattle kicks off to the Rams. Laury makes the tackle once again.
1st and 10 for the Rams from the 25 yard line – GREAT defense. Incomplete pass to Holt who was covered by Jennings.
2nd and 10 – Pass thrown too high. The Rams seem to have deflated all of the sudden. It’s very odd.
3rd and 10 – SACK – Kerney gets him again.
4th and 10 – Burleson fields the punt, looks to be stopped and then somehow spins free. Nice gain, rough tackle. Ouch.
1st and 10 for the Seahawks – Mo to run.
2nd and ? –Burleson to catch a pass despite interference. 20 yard gain.
1st and 10 - Mo to run into a wall of men.
2nd and 8 – Mo to run again for a loss. We’re trying to run down the clock but FOX isn’t showing us the clock. Ah, there it is. 3:32 left. Rams take a time out.
3rd and 12 – I hate that play. We ran Morris again. We’d rather run the clock down than try to score.
4th and 11 – Josh Brown comes onto the field, and then goes off the field. We took a time out to let as much time expire as possible. I don’t agree with running Mo three times in this series. I think we could have tried a little harder to get into the end zone. 52 yard field goal attempt. No good. Now the Rams have really good field position. If we lose this game it’s on Holmgren’s head for STUPID play calling as the game was winding down. STUPID STUPID play calling.
1st and 10 for the Rams. Pass to Bruce for a first down.
1st and 10 – Awww, pass interference on us down deep.
1st and 10 – Rams to run.
*** TWO MINUTE WARNING ***
2nd and 9 – Tatupu is not on the field. Oh dear, oh dear. What? They’re saying it was a catch even when the ball came loose? I want that play reviewed. No review from above. Grrrr.
3rd and 1 – First down St Louis. Oh, NOW they’re reviewing this play. They needed to review the earlier one.
1st and goal – 1:05 left in the game. Bruce was open but Frerrote threw it into the ground.
2nd and goal – Bruce is injured now they’re saying. We’re dropping like flies on both sides of the ball. Babs had excellent defensive coverage.
3rd and goal – Time out St Louis. Jackson to run. Falls short of the goal line.
4th and goal – Rams need a touchdown to win. :29 seconds left on the clock. Time out Frerrote. WE HELD THEM OUT!!!! OH MY GOSH! WE HELD THEM OUT!!!! The blew the snap!!! Holmgren is actually almost smiling!!! The corners of his mouth are ever so slightly turned up!!!! REDEEMED!!!!
Seattle 24 – St Louis 19
