Seahawks 20 - Chargers 31

Hmmm. Did we win this game? I'm not sure!

Of course the score says we didn't, but you can't really go from that in pre-season. No one will dispute that we started the game beautifully with a couple of touchdowns on balls that were coughed up by the Chargers' offense. We were up 14/0 in record time. Not to downplay that in the least because creating turnovers is one thing, putting points on the board as a result of turnovers is quite another, but we didn't have to work very hard to get those points. Our defense was fantastic and our offense knew how to finish it. It's what happened after that that makes me wonder.

You've got to credit the Chargers for staging a comeback after their dismal start. For a lot of teams, some past Seahawks teams included, that would have been discouraging enough that a come back was impossible but the Chargers not only kept fighting, they came back and won with an impressive performance.

What did we do? Well, some good things. Some great things. Some mediocre things. I think we did alright overall and I think we can feel good about the game. But I also think the Chargers might really have a team this season, and I think we should not underestimate them. I've never been a fan of Marty Schottenheimer but I found myself liking him yesterday. He put together a pretty decent team. I think the NFL should take notice of this years San Diego chargers.

On a disastrous note, Mili limped off the field with an injury, followed shortly by Green. Reports aren't in yet as to the seriousness of the injuries or the length of recovery, but with Stephens already on the sidelines with an injury this puts us in quite a bind.

We'll be whittling down the team tomorrow. Good luck to all those players on the bubble who put so much effort into training camp. We wish you the best.
