Seahawks 31 - Indianapolis 17
Our first string beat the first string Colts.
Our second string beat the second string Colts. Our third string beat the third string Colts. It's a trifecta!!!! For any fans who were disillusioned last week and thought the Seahawks lost everything they'd gained from a Super Bowl run last year, this should put your mind at ease. We really can put together a good sustained drive. We really can make special teams plays (boy, can we!) We really can put up a solid defense. And we really do have some guys on the bubble who are going to be good football players! I am really proud of the way we played. The Colts aren't slouchers, as they proved on their first drive. I really liked their trick plays as well. I wish the Seahawks would pull a few of them out of the old playbooks of Coach Jack Patera! The score gives the illusion that we had a cake walk but it wasn't quite that easy, particularly first string against first string. But we looked good enough to give Seahawks fans a bit of confidence heading into the season, and I hope this game did something to build up the confidence of our players as well! We did a lot of things right in this game, from offense to defense to special teams to game plan to the right shoelaces! (For those who may not have heard, Hasselbeck apparently put white laces into black shoes, a big NFL no-no for some ridiculous reason!) So far, so good. If we can beat (overcome?) the bugaboo of injuries, I think we've got something truly special again this year! There was some minor controversy going into this game about how many carries Shaun Alexander should have. Shaun wasn't wild about carrying too many times, wanting to save his body for games that count. Shaun's first few carries showed us why he was the MVP of last season, and why he made the cover of the 2006 Madden Football game. He ran hard! After a few plays I'll admit that it appeared that he wasn't giving it his all, but he gave us a show at the start of the game and he ended the game uninjured. I think that's probably OK for this time of year. GO HAWKS!! |
