Seahawks 13 - Cowboys 10

This is the week that I fall in love with Mike Holmgren.

I know some of you think I am overly harsh when it comes to Coach Holmgren, but today he showed me what I've wanted to see for so long. His smile at the end of the game said all that his press conferences have not.

What do you need to know about this game? We had 2 minutes to get a touchdown to tie the game. We'd already made our share of mistakes. We'd dropped passes. The Cowboys' defense stifled the run. We'd drawn flags. We'd intercepted. Yet we were still in the game, still in control of our own destiny. If we wanted a chance at overtime, we had to move fast!

With 40 seconds left in the game, we scored the much needed touchdown! Josh Brown had made a field goal earlier from 55 yards with no problems despite the ran, but I wasn't so confident at this crucial time. I had to force myself to look at point after attempt. It was GOOD! WE WERE GOING TO OVERTIME!!!! In a matter of minutes, the game would be 0/0 in sudden death!

We kicked off to the Cowboys and failed to tackle the return man leaving the Cowboys in excellent field position. The Cowboys needed about 15 yards to be in field goal range to win the game. Luckily for us with :25 remaining, they were flagged for holding. Thank you, Cowboys, for the gift you gave us!

With :19 on the clock, they completed a pass and called a time out. I thought I'd throw up.

With :14 on the clock, they threw an interception! Babineaux snagged the pass and took off running -- 24 yards on the return! He put us into field goal position with :05 left on the clock! Josh Brown scrambled onto the field. He didn't look nervous or hesitant in the least. He ran onto the field! He kicked a 50 yarder for the win!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm quite sure I've never seen him so happy!!!

It was sweet! It was oh, so sweet!!! It will go down in history as one of the best Seahawks games ever! The announcers said we were headed to overtime "unless some amazing thing happens..." Amazing it was!!! Oh you Seahawks, you have made us proud today!!!!

Of note is that Shaun Alexander broke the Seahawks rushing record, topping Curt Warner and Chris Warren! Congratulations to Shaun! It was a tough day today against the Cowboys' defense, but he did it!!!

And wasn't it nice to win for Ken Hamlin, who is at home recovering from the serious injuries he received outside a nightclub after last week's victory. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Ken.

This is the first time in the history of the new stadium that it has rained on Game Day. Hats off to the fans who braved the weather for this showdown! You got your money's worth!
