I've been a Seahawks fan since before the team existed. When the Nordstrom family was awarded the Seattle franchise, there was a bunch of excited screaming in the streets where I lived. "Woohoo! Seattle has a team!!!" Then there was the name-the-team contest, and the pick-the-uniform contest, and we ended up with what became the blue, green and silver Seahawks (much better than the fugly Tampa Bay Bucs, who started at the same time). Then they started playing, and they were the most exciting team to watch in the entire NFL, 'cause you never knew what was going to happen. I've seen them send the quarterback in motion, punt on 3rd down, and do about everything imaginable with the field goal unit. One play, I watched Jim Zorn run for his life, clear across the field three times (and back about 20 yards) and complete a pass for a gain. Once, after multiple penalties, they were 2nd and 52 -- and they got the 1st down! How can you not love a team like that? If I had to pick one player, I couldn't do it, but Efren Herrera was a gem. Besides being a good kicker, he would block, throw, catch, whatever was asked of him. (I'd pay good money for an NFL Flims video of trick plays -- consisting largely of old Seahawk stuff). There was Zorn, and Largent of course... Dan Doornink and David Hughes... Curt Warner and John L Williams... Kenny Easley and Fredd Young... Bryan Millard, John Yarno, Manu Tuiasosopo... Dang it, for every name I name, I think of 10 others. Can't name them all here. One last little anecdote: I met a guy down here in San Angelo, Texas, who works on the base I'm stationed at. We were at a sports bar, and I quickly made it known that I was a Seahawk fan. He told me he was from Idaho and that he knew a guy who used to be the center for the Seahawks, in the beginning. I said "John Yarno?" His eyes went wide in shock and he could barely talk for a few seconds, it was great! For the next 20 years, he's never going to meet another human being that knows who John Yarno is.
