I first moved to Seattle in 1978 at the age of 5 when my mother remarried a gentleman who worked for Boeing. He was a Seahawks fan and so naturally being the only father figure I had to look up to, I became one too. Three years later we moved to Wichita, KS via Boeing. Broncos, Chiefs, and Cowboys, oh my! Being out numbered as a fan only made me more passionate about the team. To move right along, in 1997 when Paul Allen bought the team (3 days before my 25th B-Day), I went out and got a Seahawk tattoo on my right shoulder. This is my only tattoo and I show it off with a lot of pride.

The next year in 1998, I got to go back up to Seattle for the first time since 1980 and for the sole purpose to see a game in the Kingdome for the first and last time. I could not afford to bring my wife so I went alone not knowing anyone except an old high school friend. My friend put me up and I went off the see the game solo. Outside the Kingdome area I started talking with lots of fans and told them my story. I met a great bunch of guys from Canada who really liked my tattoo as well. I then proceeded into the big white canvas tent where I met some great boosters who welcomed me with open arms while painting my face blue, green and white.

Later on after we beat the Chiefs 24-12, I met MamaBlue. What a character!

My trip had been a memory of a lifetime.

Currently I am saving up to become part of Hawk History so that I can attend the first game of the season in the new stadium. I have tossed around the idea of a Midwest Hawkfans convention for that game, but I have limited resources and will go solo again if I have to.

In closing, just to top off my diehardness, my wife gave birth to our first child on Jan. 25th 2000 and his name is Keaton. It means "Place of the Hawks".

Thank You for your Time,

Jeremy Smith
