We did it!! With players banged up all over the place, we stuck together, duked it out, and WON!! I can't begin to tell you how proud I was when Ryan Hannam caught that 17 yard pass!
Darrell Jackson, Koren Robinson and Shaun Alexander were outstanding today! That automatically gives kudos to Matt Hasselbeck, who made things happen on offense! Seahawks.com states that "Alexander is now the 3rd running back to top 5,000 career yards."
Our defense got caught playing loose a few times but when you look at the stats and see the number of tackles that were made -- 4 players with 5 apiece, and 23 players on the list of tacklers -- you've gotta smile!
Ken Lucas was injured in the game in what appeared to be a painful chest injury giving him great difficulty in breathing. Seahawks.com reports "Lucas was sitting up and resting comfortably at halftime after taking shot to solar plexus." I read at ESPN that he suffered from having the wind knocked out of him. Our best wishes to Lucas for a full recovery.
Hats off to the San Franciso fans who cheered when Jerry Rice made his one reception. That showed some class on their part and was respectful toward a player who gave the 49ers a lot of terrific memories.
Granted this is a struggling San Francisco team, but this was a game we needed to win. Anthony Simmons sealed the victory with his interception and touchdown return! Good for the boys for getting it done! Now it's on to St. Louis! I'll be there so stay tuned for a full report coming by Tuesday.
